bits of my weekend volume 7

we had a great weekend. how about you?

first we went for some booch. wow it was hot.

we set out for the water feature at bicentennial mall in downtown nashville.

sadly it was closed. probably a water conservation thing due to the flood.

so we went to the nearby farmer's market.

there were watermelons ...

... green peppers ...

... sweet corn ...

... peaches ...

... fresh herbs ...

... and cupcakes!

my kind of farmer's market.

but we didn't stay long.

alas, the boy was just too hot and collapsed in misery.

he was, as they say, farklempt.

so we went home for much needed naps before cracking open the magic bubbles.

the boy wanted to make really big ones, so hubz rigged something up with a coathanger and frying pan.

we're just going to start calling him "macgyver" from now on.

this just never gets old.

bubbles + sunset = magic.

sunday we went to church, but the boy wasn't feeling sunday schoolish.

so we sat in the lobby and colored.

luckily there is a cafe in the lobby.

and there is starbucks to be had.

and a giant hill to run down.

my kind of church.

sunday night we made more bubbles.

Bits of my Weekend volume 4

my weekend kicked off with date night.

naturally, i had to get a new dress.

and new shoes. oh, mama.

the food at suzy wong's house of yum was out of this world.

this is no ordinary sushi.

these little vegetable gyoza were amazing.

i really like the cool dragon kite decor.
(image from the Suzy Wong's nashville Web site)

the boy stayed home with a sitter.

i'm pretty sure they watched TV the whole time.

the next morning we went bike riding on the greenway.

thank goodness for the new helmet.

we saw lots of pretty things.

and we stopped to make wishes.

the graffiti is quite pretty, actually.

the flood washed out some of the trails, but it was
still lovely.

later i went and sorted food at the Second Harvest food bank.
we sorted 7,000 pounds of food in 2 hours.

oh, my back. it's aching.

but my OCD self was maniacally happy to organize stuff
on such a massive scale.

then i collapsed. for the rest of the day.

and most of the next.

while i was sleeping, hubz and the boy built this.

these are bits of my weekend.

Bits of my Weekend, Vol. 3.

how was your weekend? we saw shrek 4 in 3-D.

we rode a fish.

we conquered the scary climbing thing.

i went out with the girls to see Sex and the City 2
(that's me on the far left) ...

... had a cocktail. or two.

we took the boy to the old park where we used to play.

and surveyed the damage.

we picked up shells on the riverbank.

we got wet.

we climbed some more.

we had popcicles.

went to the civil war bridge.

can you believe this bridge was submerged during the
flood one month ago today? that's a lot of water.

we listened to shells.

"mommy, i can hear the wind!"

we found a million treasures.

and we slept.

these are bits of my weekend.

in case you've forgotten ...

nashville had a flood.

a big one.

just a reminder that people still need help.

more than two dozen people died. crews are still out looking for a man who was swept away in the flood waters.

many children don't have homes, toys and clothes.

as time passes, don't forget about the impact the flood has made. recovery is going to take a while.

to help, visit hands on nashville or add Red Tree Coffee as a friend on facebook. you can find volunteer opportunities there.

or leave me a post and i can get you in touch with a family you can support financially. thanks to the Senior Ladies of Assemblies of God Church in Pekin, Illinois, who have sent a generous check for a family who lost their home and all of their belongings.

Keep supporting! We are Nashville!
