important fashion update.

ok, so this is jean, not me. wow, you guys catch everything.

while i was in nyc i did some window shopping and discovered some amazing new fashion trends.

you are certain to thank me for this post, because now you can be extremely fashionable this winter season.

new york is, after all, a fashion mecca.

had i not seen these store windows, i would have been hopelessly out of fashion all winter long.

so here you go: all you need are a few simple items that are sure to be wardrobe staples for years to come.

simple. elegant. classic.

number one: furry boots. nothing says style and class like abominable snow monster-inspired footwear.

a furry purse is also a must-have. doesn't matter what kind, as long as something formerly cute and cuddly died, you're on the right track.

bathing suits are also hot this winter. just throw on a cardigan, your favorite pearls and a fedora and you're good to go.

and perfect for the the kids' school christmas program - this heavenly white choir-robe-inspired ensemble with matching alpaca boa.

or ... if you're just not sure what to wear ...

be like twinnie and me. wear basic black. it always works.

i'm obsessed with cookie sandwiches right now.

first there were the peanut-butter-chocolate-ganache cookies from sweet stash.

then i saw these snicker-doodle-pumpkin-buttercream doozies on pinterest.

now i've seen these (pictured) from whimsy & spice in brooklyn and i'm afraid i've got a full-on cookie sandwich obsession.

can you blame me?

and almost thrice!

after mentioning this fantastic dinnerwear line from fishs eddy recently on my blog, not one, but two sets of loved ones sent me this fabulous cream and sugar set.

my dear mom almost ordered it as well, but had a gut feeling to wait on the purchase (she is highly intuitive), and was right to do so.

i'll be sending back the duplicates in exchange for other wonderful things from the 212 new york skyline set.

it's called 212 new york skyline and i love it.

i first saw it at the beautiful apartment on madison avenue my sisters and I were so fortunate to stay in a few weeks ago.

this set is so charming and quaint, yet captures the fabulosity that is NYC. i especially love this sugar bowl.

i simply must have. must.

I miss my sissies today. here are a few more shots from our NYC trip. where will go next? what scarves will we wear? just wait and see.

What a fabulous time we had in nyc. it was the first time las tres hermanas went on a trip together (besides home to illinois, or family vacations as kids). what a treasure to have time to talk with my sisters, eat lots of good food, laugh, cry, tell stories, just be together, in such a beautiful setting. i miss them so much. thank goodness for cell phones and plane tickets or i'd never survive.

new york, new york

i'm flying to nyc in two days and i have never felt less prepared for a trip.

not that you need to be prepared for a fun weekend with your sisters, but usually i've got an agenda set - what shows i want to see, what restaurants i have to visit, places i went last time that i simply must go back to.

not this time. i've googled a few restaurants, but pretty much it's all up in the air. that's so not like me.

never fear, though - between the three of us (overachievers, all) we will certainly not be bored.

and you can count on frequent updates throughout the weekend, so stay tuned!

plans are being made

i'm making more plans than i'm sure i can accomplish in nyc, but it's fun to think of the possibilities.

perhaps on this trip i'll finally visit magnolia and find out what all the fuss is about.

NYC here I come

well, not yet. But I did book my ticket today. twinnie and i have been planning a birthday trip to the big apple for some time.

time to start obsessively planning, dreaming and googling. i like to have a complete dossier to peruse whenever I board a plane to someplace wonderful.

planning it all out is half the fun. well, maybe not half, but it's a big part of it.
