A thoroughly civilized lunch

I invited my co-worker Patrick to lunch on Friday for his birthday. Because he is a good Southern gentleman, there was no place more appropriate than Martha's at the Plantation, located at lovely Belle Meade Mansion. Each meal begins with these tiny biscuits. Truly civilized. Patrick had Martha's classic chicken salad. I had the fried chicken with winter squash and russet mashed potatoes. To drink: fruit tea for him, unsweet tea for me, and of course coffee and chocolate cake. A perfectly suth'n celebration.

Love Martha...love the plantation! She was really the original seasonal farm-to-table-er in Nashville!

I can't believe after all of these years living in Nashville it was my first time to go. I'm hooked. I want to try everything on the menu.
