my sis is celebrating her birthday today in paris.

i wish i could just sneak on a plane and surprise her, but since that's not possible i'll just wish the most fantastic big sister you could ever ask for a wonderful birthday.

she listens, she cares, she is generous and kind, and she knows when to kick my butt when i need it.

she was the one who helped me fall in love with reading - when we were kids she sat between twinnie and me and read us stories for what seemed like hours.

i always adored her and still do.

well, we haven't talked about cupcakes in a while, and we should. why? because they are fabulous.

and baking is one of the best things you can do on a rainy weekend, which it looks like we might be having.

also, next week i'm taking in cupcakes for the boy ... wednesday is his last day at childcare before kindergarten (sniffle, sniffle) and i've decided to drown my sorrows in a sea of cakes.

i came upon this image at pinterest, which, in case you don't have enough beautiful things to look at (and let's face it, who does?), this place is a vortex, dare i say a bermuda triangle of gorgeousness.

in other words, visit pinterest and you may never come back. it's that great.

so i'm inspired to bake (probably ina garten's coconut cupcakes sans the coconut). i'll keep you posted on the results.
