Old habits die hard

Once a food critic, always a food critic. Here I am at the new Local Taco, notepad in hand. I may not be getting paid for it, but I'm compelled to check it out the same.

I tried the fish taco and it was an admirable effort. But it just didn't compare to ones I've had on the west coast. The jalapeno tartar sauce and shredded lettuce didn't match the traditional creamy white sauce and cabbage I've come to expect.

But the place has charm and personality to spare. The patio alone is worth the trip. Maybe it's just trying too hard during the first few weeks. Now I'm off to yoga. Maybe Mexican food wasn't such a great idea now that I think about it.

Happy Great Grandmother's Day!

OK, so I'm not sure there is a Great Grandmother's Day. But there should be. Here's who would be getting my love on that day (and every day!) Jack Henry's Great Grandmother (Hubz' paternal grandmother), Edna. She still goes for walks every day, laughs constantly and is always positive. I can only hope I live this long and am this happy when i do! Did I mention she's 96?

happy mommyz day

Mother's Day was grand. Hubz made waffles. And bought dounts. I lazed around most of the day while Hubz scrubbed floors and worked on the new deck. Jack Henry and I went on a walk and he picked me some flowers - Dandelions. My favorite.
