He's affiliated with acorn

Faithful reader Christopher sent in this photo in response to my recent ramblings on the virtues of the acorn. Cool, right?

More fall-themed projects

Jack Henry and I had fun gluing acorn hats back onto the acorns. Our trees are full of them this year. Gathering them was at our own peril -- The squirrels sat at the tops of the trees and pelted them down on us. Ouch!

We also made a pumpkin pie -- or tried to. The evaporated milk was old and grody, so the whole pie mixture had to be thrown out.

Acorn-palooza

Here's the acorn photo I'm getting framed for my office. That's my hand, and the acorn is from a two-hundred-year-old oak tree. The image is property of VU/Daniel Dubois.

I heart acorns

This gift - a perfectly adorable acorn candle from my fabulous friend Kelly B. - just pushed me over the edge into full-on acorn decoration mode. I've decided to frame an acorn photo for my office, and I have some gorgeous acorns I gathered at home that I'm going to bring in as well. After that, I'm sure it will be a downward spiral into acorn excess. Hurray for fall!

Acorn-itis

With fall approaching, I always go through a period of longing for acorns. It's now that they pop up in stores in all shapes and forms and I want to buy them all. Once you start looking, you see acorns all over the place. Today I went on a brisk exploration walk and landed at one of my favorite stores, Social Graces. I found this treasure there - delicately crafted acorn soaps. They cost $1.25 each and smell divine. They also carry pine cone soaps but I liked these best.

Heavens to Etsy

I love Etsy, a Web site where you can buy all kinds of handmade items. I especially liked this acorn rubber stamp by Corabelle.

Acorns

I am secretly obsessed with acorns. I love them and would like to collect them if I could be sure I would not eventually be considered a crazy acorn lady. This cute little guy is supposedly a cupcake, and you would think I like it for that reason. But no, it's because it looks like a little acorn. You can buy it at Etsy.
