tavern food. reimagined.
midtown tavern, which is not what i would think of as a tavern at all, is unbelievably stylish, with a chic interior and an impressive gourmet menu. (and it's in midtown, conveniently located near my office - an obvious plus.)
sweet potato fries with a jalapeno ketchup? yes, please!
my dining companion had the turkey blt with sweet potato chips and warm blue cheese fondue ...
... and i had these to-die-for fish tacos: crispy tilapia draped in jicama slaw, nestled in a bed of spicy avacado, and garnished with fresh cilantro and garlic aioli. a burst of flavors that sang in my mouth.
hands down the best fish tacos i've had. period.
and those fries. those fries.
a covered patio, sparkling lights, sleek interior, and a taste bud-tantalizing menu from the ingenious mind of Robbie Wilson ...
what's not to love?
i can't wait to come back some evening for a perfectly civilized girls' night out.
it's not cheap, but worth every penny.
ps: i'm not being paid or getting free swag for this review. but i wouldn't turn it down.
