i've been invited to a sneak preview of nine to five: the musical tonight at the tennessee performing arts center.
the show opens this weekend in nashville, and is only here for two weeks. it's the launch of the show's first national tour.
i went to the media availability last week and got to see the cast practice as well as hear from dolly parton herself, who made the song "9 to 5" an anthem for working women everywhere in the 1980s.
i remember those days well. i never took revenge on my sexist bosses, but i thought about it.
p.s. dolly is flawless. this was shot by my friend steve green the other night at a special red carpet gala for the musical.
can you believe it's been 30 years since the movie came out?
diana degarmo (of american idol fame who went on to star in several broadway shows) is playing dolly's character doralee; broadway vet dee hoty is playing violet and the fabulous mamie parris plays judy.
there will be multiple set changes and costumes, and elaborate choreography. i can't wait. (in these pictures the actors are in casual clothes because it's just a practice.)
stay tuned for a complete rundown. thanks to TPAC for so graciously inviting me.
and ya'll run out and buy tickets before they're gone!
