waking up early

i woke up at 5:30 this morning and couldn't go back to sleep. so i got up and sat on my little verandah and observed the world pre-dawn.

before i go further, let me say this fantastic photo of nashville was taken by john russell, my extremely talented photographer friend. and though it's technically a nighttime shot, not a morning shot, it will have to do. i'm too tired to deal.

anyhoo, these are my a.m. observations:

1. babies and dogs wake up early.
2. a lot of people jog. who knew?
3. the weather is pleasant this time of day.
4. if you close your eyes, the AC fan sounds like niagara falls. mmmm, relaxing.
5. starbucks is not yet open. how bizarre is that.
6. i need coffee.
7. it's really quiet with the boy and hubz asleep.
8. maybe i should go wake them up.
9. Nah.
10. starbucks is open now, gotta run.
