Fourth of July fun

What a fun day we had. We went to lunch at Red Robin - a fabulous place to take kids. Jack Henry had his first corndog! O happy day! Actually, he only ate two bites of it and then asked if he could have some steamed vegetables. They don't have steamed vegetables, so he ate apple slices and then we came home and he ate three bowls of mixed vegetables that I heated up in the microwave. Then we all had long naps, an absolute must on a holiday weekend. All evening Jack Henry begged to go to the fireworks, which is odd since all along he had been saying he didn't want to go because it was going to be too noisy. So we loaded up and went to the closest small town and parked by the side of the road by the park. It turned out to be exactly the right spot - directly across from where the fireworks were going to be shot off. We took a blanket and sat in the grass and waited for the fireworks, which were amazing. Jack Henry wasn't scared at all. I was amazed, since he is afraid of the vacuum cleaner and pretty much anything that makes a loud noise. About half way through Jack Henry said he was ready to go, so we got in the car and watched for a few minutes before driving back. On the way home, it started to rain. Perfect timing, perfect location, perfect everything. As we were leaving, Jack Henry said, "Mommy, I really enjoyed camping tonight. Could we do it again tomorrow night? With the tent? And fireworks? And I said, sure, why not. How could I say no?
