earth to food network star contestants, um hello?
Is it my imagination or does it also seem to you that most of the contestants on the new season of Next Food Network Star have not actually watched shows on Food Network or, even better, episodes of the previous seasons of the SHOW THEY ARE COMPETING ON?
Only Debbie seems to get it that you have to TELL A STORY. BRING THE FOOD TO LIFE. Make it seem EASY and FUN. And take the challenges SERIOUSLY.
The frontrunners are the polished Debbie, the flamboyant Michael, the charming Jeffrey, and the sophisticated Jamika. The others need to pull it together fast.
And as for the Kramer-esque Brett ... well, he's gone now, so no need to vent. Wait, yes I will vent. His April Fools joke fell flat, and his meal was not cleverly linked to the holiday at all. Then he threw poor Melissa under the bus in the evaluation room, after offering to help her plate her food. No class!
I am rooting for Vandy grad Eddie, but he's going to have to get his presentation together. Please Eddie - stop with the preaching and teaching and just be yourself!

Great recap Joan. My husband and I are enjoying this series. We were happy to see Brett kicked off last night because of his behavior towards Melissa.
Thanks, Annette! I noticed on your site that you have children from Ethiopia. I hope you'll visit my friends' site - they are currently trying to adopt a boy from Ethiopia.

I wholeheartedly agree, and don't you think that healthy girl needs to do? I'm afraid her scary eyes are going to randomly pop out of her head. And I'm with ya, it's all about Jamika, Jeffrey, Michael and Debbie (personally, I hope it's Jeffrey or Jamika).
I am loyal to Eddie because he's a vandy grad but he is not my favorite right now. I like Jeffrey and Jamika the best. Debbie is really polished but I don't think she'll make it to the end. Yeah, healthy girl needs to go.
Yeah, just thinking about those annoying bug eyes of hers makes my skin crawl. And Eddie still has a chance if he doesn't overshare like last time...
i think either you've got "it" or you don't. the judges can see if you have the goods within the first 30 seconds. scary eyes won't last. plus the food network already has a "healthy" chef show. don't need another.
