The Picnic restaurant in Belle Meade at last can live up to its name and serve diners al fresco. The local culinary fixture with the distinctive blue and white motif opened a charming patio a week or so ago. Despite so-so weather yesterday, Suth'n ladies who lunch were out enjoying the fresh air, fresh flowers and tiny quiches. The always crowded purveyor of chicken salad, pimento cheese sandwiches and fruit tea will now have even more room for those in search of a truly civilized lunch.
PS The Picnic is also carrying gorgeous $5 bouquets of exquisite locally-grown flowers. Perfect for Mother's Day (Sunday) and Teacher's Appreciation Week (going on now).
