The Yankees acquired 14-time All-Star catcher Ivan Rodriguez from the Tigers yesterday in exchange for right-handed reliever Kyle Farnsworth. Why is Rodriquez called "Pudge?" I'm not sure. Why not I-Rod?
He is called "Pudge" because he was bigger than he is now and he had a belly. He weighs around 187 lbs compared to 215 lbs last season. I think he is also called I-Rod.
